About me

Hola, My Name is

vanessa Gomez

Focused, Motivated, Passionate.

Born and raised in Colombia, my passion for sports came from an insecurity about not being tall, which led me to try any possible sport that could help me to add some inches to my height when I was a teenager.

At the age of 18, when I was doing my degree in Journalism, I joined a gym and began doing resistance training, and for the first time in my life, I found a type of exercise that I was willing to be disciplined with. I was working out “consistently” six to seven times a week, two hour sessions combining weights and high intensity interval workouts. The aim was to go heavy, sweat and try all the “cool” exercises I saw on social media. I was looking good, but after 12 months of over training, poor technique and form, with no recovery, I injured my knees badly. A Knee Surgeon told me that I wasn’t going to be able to do any kind of high impact exercise or weight lifting again.

Then I moved to Australia, stopped exercising, and I ate too much junk food. Within seven months, I had gained 12 kilos and had completely lost control. I used food to cope with my emotions, I was binge eating, felt embarrassed about my body, and was feeling very depressed. This, combined with long hours of work on my feet,  made my knee injury worse – I was in pain every single day, to the point, I wanted to be seated most of the time. Something had to change.

The desire to be pain-free motivated me to study a fitness career. I pushed myself to wake up every morning at 4am – go to the gym, study harder, research more and apply all that knowledge to my body. After years of consistent and mindful training, I can deadlift, squat and hip thrust heavy. My knees and joints rarely hurt, I’m doing +10km runs every week. My relationship with food has improved dramatically, and I’m now able to help others make a positive change in their lives too.

I’m a true believer that Fitness is so much more than looking good. It’s about the effects it has on your brain, the impact that has on your mental health, the energy it gives you during the day, the choice you have of living a better and longer life,  move freely without pain, and be a happier version of yourself.

That’s my motivation, my WHY, and the reason why I would love you to let me be part of your journey.
